AutoCAD WS is an easy-to-use web application that allows you to work on your AutoCAD drawings from anywhere and with anyone. With AutoCAD WS you can view, edit, and share DWG files through a web browser or mobile device.
What can you do with AutoCAD WS?
Upload DWG files directly from AutoCAD software to an online workspace.
View and edit DWG files from anywhere, using just a web browser or mobile device.
Invite design team members to review and edit DWG files online; no software required.
Allow multiple people to work on the same DWG file online, in real time.
Record changes to designs in a timeline for version control and auditing
Store drawings and project related documents online, eliminating the need for redundant copies, backups, or archiving solutions.
Easily create and switch between a number of Viewport Layout configurations, in order to have efficient access to the views required for a particular task. Layouts can include both 3D and extended viewports. Selecting a different layout is as simple as clicking on its icon, or pressing a hotkey. Artists can share customised View Tabs with other users by saving and loading presets.
All geometry and information on AutoCAD drawings will be on a layer, this may be just one, but in most cases this will be several. It may be useful to find out, or look at what information is on each layer to isolate the information.
This could be done via the Layer Properties Manager dialogue, turning the visibility of layers on or off as required.
However, there may be an easier way of doing this, by using the LAYWALK command.
Open your drawing in AutoCAD, notice that the different colours and line types are represented by geometry being on different Layers in the drawing.
Inside the Inventor modelling environment you have the ability to apply Section Views (Quarter, Half and Three Quarter). This can be a useful tool to cut through a model, checking internal parts, fixtures or clearances.
However, if you have Content Center components inside an Assembly and create a Section View, you may have discovered that the Content Center parts do not Section, they stay solid (see below).
Autodesk Subscription now provides a greater advantage with Autodesk Cloud capabilities that can help you increase mobility, improve collaboration, and optimize your designs, advancing the way you work.
Core benefits include:
Sharing - Share your design files with others, even if they don't have the design software used to create the files
Viewing - View and mark up DWF files on the web or on your mobile device
DWG Editing - Edit DWG files on your mobile device or the web. Multiple users can edit the same file in real-time
Storage - Store your files in the cloud and access them anytime, anywhere, with 3GB of storage per seat on Subscription
Autodesk's
mobile applications have a new addition in the form of Autodesk Design Review for the iPad or iPhone.
The Autodesk Design Review
app allows you to View your 2D or 3D DWF files from anywhere.
You get 1Gb (3GB with Autodesk Subscription) of file storage with this free viewer and upload them to your Autodesk Cloud or Autodesk Labs Project Nitrous account.
You would like to have an option to disable reflections in the shaded views that you create.
In order to do this, you will need to add a DWORD registry key named Suppress Specular Color" with value greater than zero under the following registry key.
When you use Break View to shorten an Inventor drawing view, if it is a Child View it will by default break the Parent View too. However, there is an option on the dialogue box to prevent this behaviour, Propagate to parent view, when this is unticked the Break will only occur on the Child View.
