The Autodesk Wiki Help site has had a major overhaul and is now faster, more streamlined, and brings a new visual style which closer matches the theme of the main Autodesk site.  The information contained within is now more up-to-date for your 2014 products and services.

Do bear in mind though; while it can provide information on tools and techniques, it still can't solve your problems - unlike us here at Micro Concepts.

Getting Started and Help with AutoCAD WS

AutoCAD WS is an easy-to-use web application that allows you to work on your AutoCAD drawings from anywhere and with anyone. With AutoCAD WS you can view, edit, and share DWG files through a web browser or mobile device.

What can you do with AutoCAD WS?

• Upload DWG files directly from AutoCAD software to an online workspace.
• View and edit DWG files from anywhere, using just a web browser or mobile device.
• Invite design team members to review and edit DWG files online; no software required.
• Allow multiple people to work on the same DWG file online, in real time.
• Record changes to designs in a timeline for version control and auditing
• Store drawings and project related documents online, eliminating the need for redundant copies, backups, or archiving solutions.

How to Download your Autodesk Software

We have received quite a few calls in reference to downloading Autodesk Subscription software. Autodesk have recently produced a PDF to help step you through the process, so we thought it was worth a quick post:

Change to Using the Full Help for Inventor

You have downloaded and installed the Inventor 2012 Full Help and for performance reasons you want to use it, instead of the help from Autodesk Wiki Help, even when you are on-line.

Of course, you can simply create a shortcut on your desktop and have it point to, for instance:

\Inventor 2012\Help_Full \index.html

However, if you want to access the Full Help from within Inventor or inside a dialogue, do the following:

• Edit the file \Inventor 2012\Bin\HelpIds.xml in Notepad
• Find the string UseOnline
• Change the value from 1 to 0 and Save the file.
• Restart Inventor

Note: Be aware that by downloading and using the help on a local drive, you have chosen to work with a snapshot version of the Help that is possibly out-of-date, contrary to the Wiki Help, which at all times shows the most up-to-date help information.

If you want to go back to the default behaviour, that is, to use the help from Wiki Help when you are on-line, set the value for UseOnline to 1.
